Educated in his father's company, the restorer André Zehrfeld is continuing the profession of casting and mold making in collaboration with his wife, the restorer Susanna Sbaraglia. Together they built up the former business to an internationally acclaimed company.
in 1985 he started his casting apprenticeship and joined his father’s company
in 1987 he received his diploma at the vocational school Demitz-Thumitz
in 1993 he gained the the title of master craftsmen in ‘restoration and plaster work’
in 1996 he acquired a scholarship for the European Training Centre for Artisans at San Servolo, Venice
since 1996 he holds his Professor at the European Training Centre in Goerlitz and since 1997 at the European Training Centre in San Servolo, Venice
in 1998 he meets Susanna Sbaraglia (wedding in 2001), restorer with special skills in colors and ancient decorative techniques, beginning of a close cooperation
since 2000 he is member of the examination board for marble stonemasons of the trade corporation Saxony
since 2003 he cooperates with the trade corporation Holland
2008 – present Guest lecturer at the EEAM in Albi / France
In addition to the recognition and reputation in various German institutions and his activities as international lecturer, André holds as one of the few foreign restorers in Italy the certificate “SOA OS 2” for restoration of public buildings. This qualifies him to participate in major tender invitations by the Italian Ministry of Culture (MIBAC).
The company roots go back to André’s great-grandfather Otto Zehrfeld, who lived at the end of the 19th Century.
Otto’s work was continued by his son Arno, and finally passed to his nephew, the master and restorer Manfred Zehrfeld. André’s father Manfred established the company’s name Kunstformerei Zehrfeld in the 1980s.
